Blacklight parties are fun for any age group and in any style from tame to raging. The key to success is throwing a fun and innovative glow party while providing a safe and exciting environment for everyone. When throwing a child’s party that incorporates black lighting, there are several things you can do to ensure an amazing event.
Anything that is fluorescent, neon, or bright white clothing will glow great under the blacklight. Often times having your guests wear white t-shirts is a great place to start. You can pass out fluorescent hi-lighters which kids can use to draw on each other. This is a safe and low key way to inspire creativity and give a great activity for kids of any age.
Another option (albeit messy) is to pass out fluorescent paint or even water downed paint in water guns to allow them to decorate themselves and their clothing. Obviously this is a more extreme dayglow style blacklight party. However, this can be a great option for extreme outdoor blacklight events.
Blacklight decorations are easy. You do not necessarily need special blacklight paint to make your venue glow. Regular fluorescent paints will work great under powerful black lights. We often recommend washable fluorescent paint that can be found at www.DiscountSchoolSupplies.com. Also, fluorescent balloons provide a great accent to any venue.
For an easy and interactive venue decoration, you can use white paper to line walls and/or white paper tablecloths. This will act as a large canvas where kids can draw glowing pictures under the blacklights with fluorescent highlighters. This also is a tamer option then having guests draw on each other.
Having lots of glowing decorations will also help create ambient light. This will allow you to be able to see what is going on in the venue for a safe environment, without diluting the amazing blacklight effect!
